Solid hardwood is one of the products we install most, and we buy it in volume directly from the mill rather than through a middleman, which is how we keep pricing fair. We carry Lauzon, Appalachian Hardwood, Armstrong, Mirage, Aacer, Somerset, Coswick, Mercier, Kahrs, Bruce, and several custom-milled options, plus unfinished wood we can stain to match a color you already have in mind.
Solid Wood Installation, Done to Last
Our installers nail or glue solid hardwood over plywood subfloors using patterns from a straightforward straight-lay to herringbone, chevron, basketweave, and custom medallions. Because most homes here are slab-on-grade, we typically install a plywood nailing base first when a customer specifically wants solid wood in a ground-floor room - it's an extra step, but it's the right way to do it rather than skipping it and hoping for the best.

Real & Solid Hardwood Flooring - frequently asked questions
Not directly on the slab - solid hardwood needs to be nailed to a wood subfloor. If you specifically want solid wood on a ground floor, we install plywood over the slab first. For most Brevard County homeowners, engineered hardwood is the simpler and more budget-friendly route to the same look; ask us to compare both during your estimate.
Properly installed and kept in a reasonably humidity-controlled home, solid hardwood can last well over 50 years. It can be sanded down over its life, though that's not a service we offer directly - our team focuses on installation and spot repairs rather than full refinishing.
Prefinished boards are sealed at the factory, so installation is faster and there's a slight bevel between boards. Site-finished wood is sanded and coated after it's installed, giving a flatter, seamless surface, but it takes longer and needs a few days to cure before you can walk on it normally.
We generally don't recommend it - solid wood moves too much with heat and moisture for either situation. Engineered hardwood, tile flooring, or luxury vinyl plank are better matches for those rooms, and we're happy to walk through the tradeoffs when we're at your house.
